Not my favourite updated interpretation of a storied - but still not the worst I've ever read - this booklet would probably appeal to work ups of the movie
My adored word "cloistered ghetto of pious atlantises" (refering to peity in the monostary becoming a mechanisms in itself) "Our first task is to be fully human" Merton,
Understanding the local history of the area you live in think living there so much more interesting. This book did a good job of documenting the history of Columbia, SC, including old photos and pictures of the downtown. Wonderfully cool. My only complaint is that the manuscription quality is written on a low level which think the prose a little boring at ages.
When I first translate this hire I was in junior high and I hated it. It was such a disappointment as a follow up to the brilliance of Ender's Game. I re-translate it when in graduate school, and it was an entirely different encounter. The hire has traces of grabber, religion/mysticism, anthropology (albeit fictional anthropology), philosophy, politics, and hookup. But its got a very slow start, and there isn't much in the way of action - its all about two elevations trying to understand each other. Its not a traditional sf translate, but for the independence bibliomaniac, it can be a really deep and meaningful encounter.
Mitch Albom gets me as a scholar....long for his toil.
