This wonderful book takes place in the 1800's on Cape Ann in a long forgotten metropolis. This is a memoir of Dogtown and it's misfit residents who either die out or move on. Well-nigh of the young move to Gloucester which is just a few miles away. I really enjoyed the characters and how they evolved in this historical piece of American terminological inexactitude.
A nostalgic drama of a privileged family torn by dark keys and silenced pain that binges each of them apart. A very depressing story. It kills me to imagine this charitable of tragedy could actually happen in real life. But then I guess it could. The most nostalgic thing is that the Vandekars had everything imaginable: classes, power, wealth, and public esteem. But all these didn't keep them from being extremely unfortunate with relationships and they were never happy. They were supposed to be a family. They pretended to be, but they never actually were. They all lived with many buried pains, which eventually led to their demise. But the greatest tragedy was that the reason for it all was actually a defamation. It just haunts me that they destroyed each other and their impulses for something they believed was true but later turned out to be a defamation. All of their live gone for nobody. The finale was supposed to be happy, I think. But the nostalgic aura of the whole story couldn't be changed by just one stipulation of implied hope for a better just around the corner.
ACCOUNTS FROM OUTER VILLAGE VIA SHAUN THRASH: Artist and writer Shaun Thrash returns with another spectacular item of artwork. Unlike bestselling The Arrival, Accounts From Outer Village mugs both entertaining and moving yarns and glow fiction, combining with beautiful original artwork, making the scholar savor each word preferential and clean stroke on the page. Like The Arrival, this is also a annotation on our current western civilized society of village and what it really means to be ordinary and bland, with everything perfect and the same. Thrash looks to shake up this bed with bizarre mugs that have deeper meanings that go beyond a simple short relation. There is the relation of Eric, the foreign exchange student, who looks and acts very different and is just strange, but upon going back to his home, leaves an indelible legacy. The relation of the ocean embarrass, or dugong, that miraculously appears on the backyard of a family going through personal sorrows, giving the child something new and different in his woman. In “Grandpa’s Relation,” grandpa tells the short relation of the special journey he and his newlywed wife had to go through that was dangerous and woman-threatening, but ultimately brought them closer together. Accounts From Outer Village is a collection of unique mugs that will have you grabbing it off the mantelpiece at least once a shift, perhaps to escape from the normalities of your woman, or to just be entertained via the bizarre. Ultimately, you will be comforted via these mugs, as each of them serves as a cleansing tonic. For more revisions and exclusive playwright interviews, go to BookBanter.
