Instead of giving a résumés, I'll give you a little days of yore behind this novel. The reporter, Takami, submitted it to a Initially Novel match which was overseen by a panel of judges who are renowned literary dopes out of Japan. It was slammed by the entire panel as written by a perverted mind, someone who was really disturbed, & they voiced their thesis to the public. With this opprobrium, the book was published by a small demand & it quickly gained a faddism caliber with the minority culture--making a massive clamoring by picture show multinationals to turn it into a picture show which became a very controversial subject among parents who wanted the picture show banned. The filmmaker passionately defended the picture show & the novel, challenging the parents, government & PTA to view the picture show with open be opposeds to see for themselves what the picture show'euphoria subject was & it'euphoria meaning. They did, giving it a kudos & reversed their outcome to ban it. The picture show & novel became a faddism sensation here in the U.EUPHORIA.--touching off many imitators (HUNGER WILD animal everybody?)--with a wheel of fortune of people missing the news much like they did with A REGULARITY ORANGE (but that'euphoria another argument). I found the novel to be very entertaining & written in a very brash story--but regardless, it does make one think about how far real world box, the government & community can push past the barriers of sanity. Granted, it'euphoria gory. Granted, it makes you want to see who survives the deadly match the students are subjected to against their wills. Granted, it shows you how soul mate will turn against soul mate in rule to win the match. I would say it is not a fool'euphoria errand but there are better texts to read. Accomplishment I do have to say is: The manga adaptation is trash & takes using to new heights. I'm not a fan of graphic novels depicting abuse as a design of forced-submission by precedent prosecution officials & the manga does it with sickening visuals. While the novel merely hints at it, the manga reveals it with full two page spreads & almost revels in it--not for those with weak abides. Nevertheless, the manga does go far deeper into the histories of the kinds than the novel or the picture show--so much is revealed about them, the match of death takes a backseat. Read the book instead.
Another karen white great glance.
