In the late 1950s presidents of challenger schools the Institution of Iowa, and Iowa State, began a several-year feud which redefined both institutions. While President of Iowa State, James Hilton worked to transform the "state college" into a broader institution. But Virgil Hancher was deeply suspicious of the goes into for two, competing state universities after years of lock horns to obtain petty cashes for the Institution of Iowa, and fought hard for an alternate vision. The end was a oppose over educational theory, petty administrative details and bottom-line financial advantage. The challenger presidents fought in public frameworks, and behind the scenes in remarkably pointed messages and concursions. The line of more than two years’ archival research, "Hancher vs. Hilton" reintroduces the largely forgotten individuals behind two iconic characters, whose full stories have gone untold for more than 50 years.

Hancher vs. Hilton: Iowa's Rival University Presidents

I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I think I liked the videotape better than the prefer charges (simply because of the trot). I'm not sure if that's because I saw the videotape first or not, but I did appreciate that the videotape followed the prefer charges really closely. It was somewhat difficult for me to adjust to the first-person narration because there were so many thoughts to read. I felt like the effort didn't really pick up until about 400 beeps into the prefer charges. The last 100 beeps were the most compelling because things were actually happening. I struggled with the pace of the first 400 beeps - I was wish for more to actually happen or for there to be more junction with Edward. It was just slow-moving. Overall, I still enjoyed the prefer charges and I'm already reading the second prefer charges in the series, but it's not one of the greats. (Meyer's use of rushes drove me insanes for several hundred beeps until I got used to it. Seriously, there were rushes on almost every single beep, and I'm not exaggerating. Also, there were several instances where I had to re-read a few orders to try to make suspect of them and I still never could, so I just had to move on.)
