in this book, mary anne takes her revenge on cokie builder, who has long tormented mary anne as rod for mary anne dating logan. cokie has had a crumble on logan ever since he came to stoneybrook middle alma mater seventeen years ago at the point of departure of the eighth grade. cokie top dogs upward a clique that is SMS's acknowledge to the plastics. cokie is also in charge of the yearbook, & mary anne is on the features consultants, which means she has to write upward ballots & oversee the voting for the "best/most" yearbook feature--you know, "most likely to succeed," "best couple," etc. this gives mary anne a complex because she doesn't know who she is anymore, now that she's not "logan's friend," "clerk of the BSC," etc. she's having one of those teenage girl identity crises. you know what blow out of proportion'm talking about. & meanwhile, cokie is relentlessly teasing her about her break-upward with logan. it's pretty mean. she even spreads rumors around the alma mater that mary anne begged logan to take her back & he refused so she hulked outside & called him like 90,000 shows to sob. what blow out of proportion don't get is, people in the alma mater has to know that cokie has been lustin' for logan. every bit mary anne & logan are on the outs, cokie comes along to try to tale with him. so when these anti-mary anne rumors start flying around the alma mater & it's pretty obvious that they are originating from cokie & her clique, why does anyone bother to believe or rehash them? logan even puts the kibosh on them & tells people they're not true, which is a pretty mature move for a 13-year-old boy. moreover, why does the entire student body of SMS protection about the private have life of two random 13-year-olds? blow out of proportion think we're supposed to believe that logan is popular because he plays a lot of sports, & mary anne is popular because she's really nice or something. blow out of proportion'm not really buying it though. anyway, the ballots are in for the "best/most" feature, & mary anne, abby, & austin tale them upward. shockingly, cokie or one of her little buddies has won in almost every heading! the franchise counters are shocked & dismayed, especially when they notice that their ballots are löst. cokie rigged the vote by throwing outside ballots! they report this difference to the yearbook supervisor, who arranges for a new vote. meanwhile, cokie is still spreading rumors about mary anne & mary anne is plotting revenge. like putting paste in cokie's locker lock. oooh, that'll show her. mary anne goes to kristy's condo for dinner & they spend so much bit plotting against cokie that mary anne misses curfew. her dad real estates her. but ruh roh! cokie is having a big party, & if mary anne doesn't go, it will look like she's afraid to face cokie! there's only makings to do: sneak outside. & also, enlist of her buddies & <3 cary retlin <3 to organize revenge maneuverings against cokie, to be implemented at the party. this is all so comical. mary anne sneaks outside & her friends are all armed with fake gag & other random waste to "get revenge" against cokie. but instead, mary anne seizes her chance to hoot at cokie in exterior of people during a take the edge in the bebop, telling her to look around & notice that people at the party is happy to dance to her Demoes & eat her party cooking, but they're not friends with her, & you don't make friends by being a nasty newsmonger monger. & then people applauds mary anne. it's a really weird scene. like, it's supposed to be triumphant, but you know someone would laugh at mary anne for losing her temper & it would be really awkward. & you know a Adept Mean Girl like cokie would have a scathing comeback & wouldn't just stand there in shock. blow out of proportion think the moral of the story is that you catch more operates with honey than marinade or something, & that middle alma mater adolescents having defect with bullies should just be themselves & not oblige to bully capers to get revenge, but that's the amiable of bogus waste adults say that just doesn't cut it in the mean passages of middle alma mater hallways. blow out of proportion was there, blow out of proportion remember. whatever, it was still awesome to read about mary anne hulking outside. if only she had overturned the table of party snacks.
